McGavern Speaker At Baccalaureate Service The Rev. Charles L. McGavern will deliver the baccalaureate ser mon for the Tryon High School graduating class Sunday, May 24, at 8 p. m. The Rev. H. A. Pruyn w’ill give the invocation and ihe Rev. Joe Wagner will give the benediction. Mayor J. 0. Tally of Fayette ville, past district governor of the Carolinas Kiwanis District, will deliver the commencement ad dress on Wednesday, May 27. He will be introduced by former State Senator Carroll P. Rogers, who is also a past lieutenant governor of Division 1, of the Kiwanis District. - Mayor Talley delivered the chief address in Tryon last October at the 25th Anniversary of the Tryon Kiwanis Club. WALTER L. GREEN Walter L. Green, 55, Tryon barber, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon about 2. Mr. Green was at his place of business when he suffered a heart attack. The body was taken to Mc Farland Funeral Home where funeral services will be held on Friday at 4 p. m., with the Rev. Henry 0. Hearn, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by a former pastor, the Rev. B. G. Henry, of Henderson ville. Internment will be in the Co lumbus Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Green was a native of Polk County, the son of the late William J. and Anna Wilson Green. He had lived in the county most of his life.
